Stayed home from work to be with Sky while Erika recovered. He was an angel.
We went to Lakewood Cemetary around 3:00 and met the Dalquist clan there. Linda had a tape recording of Dave which was great to listen to. It is so hard to comprehend that that voice no longer exists in the present, only in recordings from the past.
Later, we went to the MOA to make Sky Champion T-shirts, scope out the LRT stop and get Sky's Hannah Anderson outfit.
We made it back for Sky's dinner before Katie F. came over to watch Sky so we could go to the Charlatans. We got there very early, found a table, and ordered dinner. Erika got fried veggie spring rolls and I got a veggie burger.
We talked about how distant the fall of 2004 seemed and how for me that time period is so representative of my mentality before Sky. Our main focus was on the election, our Royal Tennanbaum halloween outfits, concerts, and saving money for our trip around the world. It all seems, to be frank, shallow now. I feel like I care about so much more now; obviously Sky is the most important part of it, but the level of emotion for him has bleed into all other aspects of my life it seems.
The opening act was ridiculous, The Blood Arm. The lead singer took to the dance floor and was flailing around like John Shimeck after a liter of Vodka. I liked one song.
The Charlatans opened with two from Simpatico, then Telling Stories. Coley, Buddy, and Mike DeSantis found us and Coley and I hid the second row. The crowd was very light but once we got down on the floor it didn't matter as it was just us and the Charlatans. I got a great buzz (or more) and they sounded sublime. A big mix from all albums, including a Jesus Hairdo which I think was my first. Senses was incredible, as was the every closer, Sprosten. They played one tune that neither Coley or I recognized which I really loved. I thought the new tunes sounded good and I liked the reggae sound they have incorporated. It really gives Simpatico a disticnt sound for them. Overall it was just an awesome show. I danced and jumped and shook my head back and forth and really just lost myself into the music. Who knows when I'll see a show with Coley at First Ave again. So weird that he is leaving.
